General Thomas J. STONEWALL JacksonThomas Jonathan Jackson was born January 21, 1824, in Clarksburg, Virginia. While he was a child both of his parents were laid to rest. He was raised by his uncle, and moved to what is now, Jacksons Mill, West Virginia. When he turned 18 eld old, he was appointed to attend West Point. During the Mexican War, he was appointed to order the First Regular Artillery. At this time, Jackson started to become religious. He started to reading the Bible, and joined the Presbyterian Church.In 1851 he accepted a teaching position at the Virginia Military Institute at Lexington, Virginia.
